ANIMOTION Awards

Where the year's finest animation is recognized

The ANIMOTION Showcase lives permanently. The ANIMOTION Awards happen once a year -- an annual, three-stage contest that ends in Gold, Silver and Bronze, chosen entirely through editorial review.

Recognition. Development. Imagination.

A permanent showcase, and an annual contest

Every project accepted into ANIMOTION joins the permanent showcase the moment it's published, and stays there indefinitely. The ANIMOTION Awards are something additional: once each year, a three-stage contest narrows that year's submissions down to a final Gold, Silver and Bronze ranking, with editorial mentoring and feedback offered between every stage along the way.

How the Awards differ from the Showcase

Publication in the showcase and winning an award are two different things. Publication means a project met our editorial standard for craft and storytelling. An award means a curator judged it among the very best of everything submitted that year.

Editorial selection, not public vote

Every award decision is made by editorial review -- never by public vote, follower count, or popularity. See our Editorial Policy and About the Awards pages for exactly how that review works.

Recognition of excellence

An ANIMOTION Award marks a project as having stood out among an international field for its craft, originality, and storytelling -- recorded permanently in the Hall of Fame once each edition concludes.

Additional Recognitions

Official Selection

A broad editorial pre-selection: the projects judged strong enough, out of that stage's submissions, to continue in the contest.

Awarded after Stage 1's results are published; Official Selections may keep improving their project before the Stage 2 deadline.

Finalist

A narrower shortlist: three Finalists chosen in every category, one step away from Gold, Silver or Bronze.

Awarded after Stage 2's results are published; Finalists may keep improving their project before the Stage 3 deadline.

Rising Vision

An independent editorial highlight for a project that pushes toward something genuinely new -- an unconventional technique, an unfamiliar story, a creative risk that pays off.

Can be awarded to any project at any stage, alongside any other recognition it earns -- never a substitute for Gold, Silver or Bronze.

Hall of Fame

The permanent public record of every edition's Gold, Silver and Bronze winners.

Entered automatically once an edition's final results are published -- only final winners enter permanently.

Jury Recognition

An independent editorial highlight for a project the curatorial jury feels deserves special mention beyond its official tier.

Assigned at curators' discretion, independent of Gold, Silver, Bronze, Finalist, or Official Selection status.

Community Recognition

A future recognition reflecting genuine engagement from the ANIMOTION community -- never a public vote deciding who wins.

Not yet enabled for the current edition. Community Recognition will be explained here once it launches.
